Yes, I’ve been battling tiny Wizkids’ Marvel & DC superheroes on carefully plotted maps for years, thanks to the wonders of Heroclix, but now…. now WizKids is bringing Lord of the Rings into it. And I’m a bit tingly. There have been a few Lord of the Rings-themed miniature games over the years, made by other companies (Games Workshop among them), and I collected them all—even if the play mechanics were so complicated that they were rarely enjoyable.It was still neat to assemble a massive elf army in any format. Heroclix, however, is noted for being incredibly fun to play while maintaining its simplicity and ease of use for novice tabletop gamers.
These will actually be compatible with your existing Marvel & DC sets, even though Horrorclix, Haloclix and other permutations of the Clix brand haven’t ever been compatible with the core Clix rulebook (except for a few zombie Marvel characters and a small Hellboy set that straddled the divide). We’ll finally see if Gandalf the White can take on Galactus.
